Chevrolet Trucks
Chevrolet Trucks cover a massive range of pickups, 4x4 (four wheel drives) SUV's, sports trucks and many more. This page will outline the most popular of these models for your information.
Chevrolet Avalanche
The Chevrolet Avalanche was first introduced in 2002 on the GMT800 platform and is a four-door sport utility truck, seating five or six passengers. It shares GM's long-wheelbase chassis which was used on the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade EXT. The Avalanche is not like the typical pickup truck in that the open rear bed has a folding panel, or midgate with a removable rear window that opens up to the rear seat area. To make the cargo bed watertight is a series of three removable panels. Extra storage which is usable as self-draining ice chests can be found behind both wheelwells, which is accessed via locking flip-top panels.
Chevrolet C/K
The C/K is Chevrolet's full size pickup truck that was manufactured between 1960 and 1998. While the first Chevy pickup appeared in 1924, the original went through many incarnations before the C/K finally appeared. The original "C" trucks were basic two-wheel drive, but the "K" models were four-wheel drive for rougher terrain. The GMC Sierra replaced the C/K light-duty pickup truck in 1988 and this was then replaced by the Chevrolet Silverado in 1999. In 2001, the Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD heavy-duty trucks came into being.
Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado and its GMC counterpart, the Canyon, are both mid-size pickup trucks that were introduced in 2004 when they replaced the Chevy S-10 and GMC Sonoma. The Colorado was designed jointly by GM's North American and Brazil operations in conjunction with Isuzu and is based on the GMT355.
The Colorado/Canyon trucks come with either manual or automatic transmissions. GM offers the choice of a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive drivetrain that comes with the standard body, extended body and four-door crewcabs. Models are generally fitted with the standard 2.8 L (2770 cc, 169 cu in) LK5 I4 engine. However, a more powerful 3.5 L (3460 cc, 211 cu in) L52 Straight-5 is fitted in the Z71 package on four-door models. This is optional on other models. The four-door Z71s also come with 4-speed automatic transmission as standard, although this package was later replaced with LT2 and LT3.
Chevrolet Silverado and Sierra
The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, are the latest in the line of full-size pickup trucks coming from the factory of General Motors.
The Silverado pickup became in 2007 the second largest volume pick-up vehicle in the U. S. aafter the Ford F-Series. If you combine the Silverado with its platform-mate the GMC Sierra, these vehicles usually outsell the Ford F-Series.
The Silverado and Sierra trucks have stayed pretty much the same throughout their entire history. Today's Silverado is generally advertised as a basic truck while the Sierra is marketed with more luxury options.
